My 5-year-old daughter received the full-sized American Girl Rebecca doll for Christmas from our close friends. Though she loves the doll, it is very big and does not suit the type of play she is keen on right now, which is dollhouse play. We have a dollhouse that suits smaller dolls, and when I came across these mini versions of the AG dolls, I thought I'd give them a try. They are perfect for dollhouse play! The Molly doll measures around 6.5 inches, and is of very good quality -certainly not of cheap flimsy plastic material that I've seen in some other brand name dolls. The dress and shoes are all detailed and well-made, and her glasses can come off (they were packaged separately in the box). The size is perfect for my daughter's tiny hands and she loves that she can carry these dolls with her wherever she goes without worrying about storage or finding them unwieldy. There is also a miniature book that comes with the Molly doll - it's about 3 inches in height, and honestly, this is not really a book for reading - the script is so tiny that though it can be read, it strains the eyes. I have a feeling the book was more of a complement to the doll, and for playing with than actual reading. If you're planning on getting this set, you may also want to get the full-sized paperback Meet Molly, an American Girl (American Girls Collection). I've purchased three of these mini versions so far - the Josefina, Addy, and Molly dolls, and have been pleased with all of them. I definitely plan on getting some of the other mini dolls to add to my daughter's collection and for playing with (the price of a full-size doll can go towards purchasing a couple of these mini versions!). I think the price for these dolls are just right - not as exorbitant as the full-size dolls, and yet make wonderful gifts for young girls.

Great little doll, my kids love them! Perfect size to be their doll's doll and even small enough to fit in the dollhouse. Recommended! (Only downside is the accessories are really tiny, like the shoelaces open up and take fancy finger work to tie again, I'm glad the braids haven't opened yet, and those adorable glasses don't quite stay on as well as we'd like them to!)

I recieved American Girl Mini Doll, Molly Grace in a fast and timley manner. When the doll arrived, the packaging was in excellent condition, sealed, and well protected! The product is American Girl Brand and it came new in the American Girl box! I appreciate the seller's honesty in providing the true product that was posted and described!! My little girl will be so surprised on Christmas morning!!

The doll is cute. The “book” is worthless. I can’t imagine why they would advertise or bother to send it. Big disappointment! Would make me think long & hard about ordering anything from them again, just on principle.

I bought this as a gift and when I recieved the doll I was a bit let down. The size of this doll is tiny and the book is so tiny it makes it almost impossible to read. The one thing about this doll that was positive is the quality. The doll is cute and quality is good. I guess it just depends on what you are buying the doll for.

I love these little dolls. They have all the detail of the larger dolls, but are less expensive and take up much less room.

I have 5 little kids, 4 are girls, they love the AG stuff but this year we went with a mini doll each. They are enjoying them so much with their "big Sister" dolls. We are fans of the historical dolls and the books, it was a great and economical way for our family to enjoy more characters and stories. About the product: This is a miniature replica of the 18" Molly Doll. Cloth body, glasses included, clothes & shoes can be removed. Much better price than AG sight.

I've been building websites for years, modifying existing Wordpress themes. I've never built one from scratch.After reading this, I feel like I have a better understanding both of what I've been doing all along, and what I am about to do as I start my first theme from scratch.After reading this book, I feel like some of the other reviews that knocked it for skimming some areas are a little bit off the mark. The book is a very basic intro to building a theme. The skimmed parts (I think particularly of the review that hit on the page-6 tmplate, if I'm recalling correctly) are only difficult if you are the most beginning of beginners. If that's the case, you're also going to perhaps struggle with some of the PHP sections.Overall, I'm very glad to have this quick outline to hang some future more-specific learning about building themes from scratch.

Don't let the 3 star rating keep you from buying this book. I liked it, and if you are in the audience this book is written for, you will likely find it to be quite useful. On a price / value basis, it's a good deal.The benefit of the book is that it provides introductory material, presented in a consistent manner, in one place. I read it on a train, while commuting and it solidified several concepts that were not previously clear after reading disjointed blog posts for a few evenings.The author writes in a clear, friendly manner, and while I generally like a more concise and to-the-point style, he's not over the top with unnecessary verbiage.This self-published book comes in at about 60 pages. The author maintains the sample code on GitHub.My complaint about this book is the author did not go into enough detail. I know this is an introductory book on the subject, but he glossed over too many things. For example, WordPress manages Posts and Pages. The book only spends a page or two discussing Pages. It makes statements such as "If you have a page template called page-6.php, that means that whenever a page with ID 6 is shown, it will use that template." It never shows the reader how to construct the page. (Where does "ID 6" go, for example?)Another topic that is not covered is how to incorporate JavaScript into a page or post. A book that is teaching someone how to build a template "From Scratch", should show how this is accomplished. On the other hand, incorporating widgets, is discussed.I would have like to seen an approach where the author took several HTML web pages and created a theme from scratch using the pages as a starting point. I think a lot of readers will be in a situation.where they want to start using WordPress for their CMS as well as for managing blog posts, and working through an example of porting a site from plain HTML to WordPress by creating a custom theme would have been a better teaching technique.But, all-in-all, a good read. If Joe were to write another 60 page book on this topic but for a more advanced audience, I would consider buying it.(I did not ding the book for this, but I'm wondering if the copy I got was complete. The last sentence of the book is this: "1. You can name it whatever you want, but for this book I’ll be calling it mytheme everywhere." Strange to end a book with a point 1 of what would appear to be a list. Makes me wonder if I have a bad copy or download.)

I like the author writing style. The book was easy to read and follow. The only draw back I found was the author used bootstrap to develop his theme but he didn't show explain how to install bootstrap into WordPress. I think he need to explain how to install bootstrap using wp_enqueue_script.

This introductory text does a good job of describing how a theme is assembled. Armed with this basic information the reader can then start to investigate what is needed to take the next step.

The advice on testing and measurements for focused training is excellent. The studies shared are very insightful. That's the good I learned from this book.What I didn't like was the weight-training programs. It reminds me the programs I seen from my playing days back in the 90's. I don't see NHL / College / Major Junior teams training like this today...it is more of a dynamic type of training. Specifically I don't like all the leg extensions and legs curls described in the program.

Tons of info, great pictures and lots of variations. Has workout plans and information about WHY each exercise is good for hockey training.

Everything is great. Haven’t had time to read it yet.

The book was short, informative and FREE, but it lacked some things that I would have preferred.1) Although I like the way that the author included the example of the makeup, you couldnt see the way that the blush or foundation was put on.2) Also, I would have preferred more examples of the makeup by maybe showing the celebrities she listed.Besides that, I really liked it because it gave me exactly the shades of makeup I needed for my eyes and skintone. Plus, I got background on how the makeup used was affected by the events happening. So basically it was a great book overall.

Gives a paragraph of information basically, per era, and then lists -pretty much the same-colors used for eyes, lips, foundation etc.. that’s it. Basic.

This would be a great book for a costume designer/makeup artist trying to recreate those eras. A pet peeve of mine is seeing historical movies where the costumes are perfect, but the makeup is of the same era of which the movie was made. This is a very short book which covers a very specific topic.

I really appreciate the author taking the time to compile different looks and makeup techniques from the past. Anyone looking to recreate a look from then can definitely do so.

I was not impressed as it was not a problem solver. This actually only explains the way the looks were achieved 50 years ago .

Decent information but too few pictures

I liked this mini book a lot. It would have been helpful, however, if the illustrations had been in color to emphasize the color gradients the blending techniques were aiming for. Other than that, it was the cat's pajamas!

This book does not give you any examples. It is not a step by step guide. No pictures. The few drawings it had where not useful.

I love this book. This is the second one I've had (this is to replace the other well-read book, which I cannot find). One thing I was impressed with is that the author was in his nineties when I first bought the book, and was still giving lectures. To me, if the person preaching health is healthy, that's the best sign that he has something worth saying.The book talks about bowel cleansing. I followed one of his cleanses as best I could (I couldn't buy all the supplements he recommended), and it was the best juice fast I'd been on. I was never hungry, except for one time when I was unable to keep to the schedule.

I brought this book by Dr. Jensen, and followed the steps on the tissue cleanse step by step, it was one of the most challenging things I have ever done! The first few days were a piece of cake, I was feeling amazing! It was the last few days that "Things" started becoming very challenging, and I started wondering if I should have ever started this in the first place! But in the end I was very grateful that I did! Perhaps not a book everyone can read but if one could uncap one's brain and pour the knowledge in Dr. Jensen's publications into their "think tank" we would all be benefitted from "HEAD TO TOE." In deed a book I wish all gastroenterologists and rheumatologists would integrate into their professional repertoire.Dr. Jensen takes one beyond the treatment of only symptoms. Rare if one can adhere to a healthy diet but just to have some knowledge of why we suffer so "unnecessarily" gives one some leverage to make make an improvement. Dr. Jensen addresses diet but also emphasizes his understanding of the very real importance of striving for emotional equilibrium, "healthy" moods, attitudes and as Avatar Meher Baba has stated, learning constructive ways of ' how to worry about how not to worry!' Bon Appetite!!!

People don't take their poor bowel health seriously. Doctors have been poo-pooing (pun intended) nutrition and colon health since the dawn of allopathic medicine. If you think loose stools, irregular bowel patterns, intermittent constipation/ diarrhea and the floating frothy mess you leave in the toilet is normal, this book will open your eyes. Defecation is so taboo as a subject in our society. As a nurse, I have witnessed severe illness in people who are actually in denial that they must move their bowels on a daily basis. Especially women, some whose bowel habits -- if you can get them to talk about it -- is once every 7 days! These people end up with abscesses and cancers resulting in bowel resections and colostomy bags. The Western diet leaves us too many bad choices, opting for flavor over nutrients. Acid-forming foods (meats and white flour products)elicit a mucous response in the entire body, and well-hidden, the small bowel. This eventual "wallpaper paste" collapses the cilia hairs in the small bowel preventing uptake of nutrition from food. Low fiber diets contribute to this environment. Poor absorption and illness results. Fasting, the use of Bentonite clay (Sommes), careful colonics and a reintroduction of a diet rich in woody fiber will help shear the gunk from your bowel wall. Autopsies have proven that most people are carrying around an extra 10+ pounds of putrefied fecal matter in their bowels. I recommend Dr. Jensen's method for anyone who is suffering from poorly diagnosed illnesses which modern medicine is not healing, autoimmune issues especially. His work is tantamount and a landmark for the Common Sense required for good health.

I recommend this book to everyone on the earth! Digestive system is so important, but we usually ignore it.It is not just about bowel care, but also it affects everything in the body.Skin (my skin got cleared up), immune system (I do not catch a cold too often anymore), back pain (I improved it and no more pain in my back!!), more energy, more motivated, and more and more!This book changed my way of thinking toward food. and how our food nowadays have all kinds of scary stuff.I want to eat to live, not live to eat.

About the Author

Erica Armstrong Dunbar is the Charles and Mary Beard Professor of History at Rutgers University. She also serves as Director of the Program in African American History at the Library Company of Philadelphia. Her first book, A Fragile Freedom: African American Women and Emancipation in the Antebellum City was published by Yale University Press in 2008. What an incredible piece of history. Startling and inspiring at once. In Ona Judge Staines, I'd say we have a new American hero. A 22-year old enslaved girl who chose a dirt poor fugitive's life in New Hampshire over a "privileged" life of slavery, a girl who ran away from no less than the beloved first president of the USA! Her courage is hard to fathom. And the Washingtons -- wow -- how slyly and relentlessly they chased her down. Amazing story. Must read!

Since learning about the Broadway Play Hamilton, I have been obsessed with the American Revolution. The history books are filled with harrowing tales of the Founding Fathers, stories undoubtedly pieced together from scores of journals and papers recorded by the Founders themselves. Never do you hear tales of the Founding Fathers from a slave's perspective. I'm sure one would find that, contrary to how these men pictured themselves, they were neither hero nor martyr in the privacy of their homes. That is what makes this story so unique! Most slaves could neither read nor write, so most historical accounts are not from their perspective. Thousands of slave stories left this earth unrecorded. It took the brilliance and curiosity of Dr. Dunbar to finally tell this story of a brave Ona Judge who risked everything for freedom; a slave who escaped the service of the most powerful man in the US at the time.Dr. Dunbar used her skill as a researcher and understanding of African American history to weave together a detailed story about a fierce young woman born into slavery, the property of an estate. What an incredibly difficult task it must have been to piece together such a complex story without concrete facts. Dunbar's ability to draw inferences based on the time period allowed Ona's story to take shape. The attention to detail gave depth and breadth to the historical breadcrumbs left by a woman who chose life as a fugitive over slavery.My life has been forever impacted by this story. As a prolific reader of revolutionary history, I had read about Ona Judge in other books about George and Martha Washington. So little has been mentioned of her because it was an enormous embarrassment to the Washingtons that she ran away from being enslaved by such a prestigious first family. Ona Judge had come to the Washington's massive collection of over three hundred slaves when she was an infant. She worked exclusively for Martha Washington in every capacity of a personal maid and was shocked and horrified that Martha would callously give her away to her incredibly selfish and nasty-tempered granddaughter as a wedding present! This book is the story of her to run . A fascinating book! Highly recommend!

This is a story you don't learn in grade school--or college either--about the Washingtons and their relationship with their slaves and their political ideology. It opened my eyes about the first ever First Family and their times. Unfortunately, we don't all know our own history very well, but this book will help alleviate that problem. Although the story is well-researched, the Ona Judge story had to be told mostly based on generalities about slavery and what Judge was likely thinking during her enslavement and subsequent escape. That removed way of telling the story was the book's main drawback. I highly recommend this book anyway as it reveals the life of a remarkable but little known woman in American history. Her story is as necessary for school children to know as is the George and Martha Washington story.

While the author's agenda is clear regarding her critique of GW's treatment of his slaves, there's too much "presentism" in judging 18th century figures by 21st century standards. In checking the end notes regarding Washington's alleged physical abuse of slaves, there's too much "some believe" or "it has been reported" rather than rigorous scholarship. Assertions that have not been solidly verified should not be included in scholarly works.

I am probably like a lot of people in that i know the general outline of George and Martha Washington's life from what I learned in high school but beyond that I am not too familiar with the details. I knew that Washington was wealthy and made his money from a tobacco plantation but beyond that that is about all we hear about the hundreds of slaves that he owned that created his family's vast wealth. This book goes a long way towards filling in that gap and reveling a part of the Washington's lives that I would imagine most people are not all that familiar with. Ona Judge was one of two of the Washington's slaves that ran away and were successful in not being caught and returned. The author does a great job of telling her story and putting it in the context of what was going on at the time both in the nation and the Washington household. Telling the story of slaves is no easy task since the sources that are available are so thing when it comes to first person accounts of the lives of the enslaved. They are in effect invisible to historians to a certain degree and this allows them to be ignored and the role the played and the hardships they endured to be downplayed. Never Caught pulls back the veil on a small part of that by telling this story. The author has to do a fair amount of speculation about Judge's motivations but makes a convincing case for what she did and why she did it. If I have one criticism of the book I would have liked to have had more of judge's own words in the book as limited as they may have been. This book is a quick and interesting read and would be of interest to anyone wanting to lean more about the early history of this country as well as well as the the lives of out first president and how slavery was an issue even at the beginning of this nations history.
