Several years ago, I made a quick decision to begin scribbling down my story. An eating disorder is a beast that resides deep within, destroying a person slowly from the inside out. Research has shed light on anorexia, but studies cannot accurately depict an individual's mind as she struggles with her disorder. What is going through her head when she decides to stop eating, to study compulsively, to shut out her family and friends, to injure herself, and to live in isolation? My book reveals it all.What can you do when a person you love is withering away right before your eyes? It is essential to understand the mind of the sufferer in order to know how to help. Seriously? I'm supposed to feel sympathy for this nasty spoiled self-absorbed narcissistic brat? She doesn't like being bullied so she goes home to bully her family? She has repulsive personal habits, she has a repulsive mental life.... She spends all her time studying to compensate for a lack of real intelligence. I'm supposed to feel sympathy for this person who is passionate and enjoys aspects of her life? I'd never have been allowed to wallow in so much self pity.

Rachel's account of her years-long struggle with anorexia nervosa is both horrifying and hopeful. Told with searing honesty and brave insight, it dispels the myth of anorexia being the result of adolescent dieting "gone too far," or a teenager's attempt to look like a supermodel. Rachel is quite succinct in her explanations of what was going through her mind when her anorexia was developing, and her bid for control over a world that was perplexing and sometimes hostile towards her as she was growing up. This book is important reading for anyone who has suffered from the disease, as it does not glorify it or attempt to romanticize it in any way...in fact, Rachel describes anorexia and her experience with it in mostly negative terms--isolating, terrifying, and deadly. Her climb out of the darkness was slow and painstaking...but I found myself rooting for her and feeling like I knew her. I love autobiographies, and this one is excellent, especially if you or anyone you love suffers from this confounding and heartbreaking illness. Thank you, Rachel...sharing your story was brave and serves to shed much-needed light on this misunderstood affliction.

This book is a story of one woman's experience with anorexia. Beginning at age eight, Rachel finds that one thing she can control in her life is food. I was shocked that she became an anorexic at such a young age. Throughout this story of starvation, intervention, relapse, and attempted recovery, Rachel's story will pull at your heartstrings. It doesn't pull punches or try to paint this disease in a rosy light. Instead, the huge and ongoing struggle to control her weight, understand how she should act in any situation, and to be a successful actor in musical theatre is bluntly and honestly revealed. This book really opened my eyes to why some people with anorexia don't eat, and how hard the struggle to overcome this problem is. I highly recommend this book to anyone who may know someone who they are concerned about having anorexia, and I recommend it to parents, especially parents of girls who have a hard time fitting in at school and who might make the choice of controlling their food intake in order to have control over some area in their lives.This book will really open your eyes to the problem with anorexia. Rachel's reason for being anorexic was not the current view of the perfect woman being extremely thin, but I believe that is one of the reasons why many girls and young women becoming anorexic. I hope that if you have daughters who are overly concerned about their body size and weight, you will be able to get them help.

As a once chubby kid who grew up being told one can never be too thin, this book helped me to better understand my own short bout with excessive dieting, and my continued desires for perfection. Ms. Richards bares her soul, detailing the not-so-pretty details of her long battle with anorexia, and her emotional and physical struggle to move her life away from the clutches of the disease. Hungry for Life is the interesting tale of a troubled child's evolution to a resolved young woman, and is not just for those who have a curiosity or questions about anorexia. Her story is compelling, bold and totally relatable to all. The research section at the end of the book is also incredibly interesting. Definitely a recommended read.

When I started reading this book I was very annoyed with the lead, I felt she was extremely whiny and wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it through an entire book of that...but I did and I am glad I did. Once she began growing up and became more aware of herself there were moments when I put the book down and sat in quiet reflection. She has a way of articulating certain things that provoked ‘Aha’ moments in me and I really appreciated that. It illicited feelings of solidarity and removed me from a certain loneliness that I hadn’t realized was there. I appreciated this book. There were moments where I struggled wanting to read it but there are gems within it.

Hungry For Life is a very compelling read. In today's "Foodie- culture society, it is hard to not be at least a little food centered. But this memoir goes far beyond what current trends address. This story really speaks to those of us who have been obsessed with food from as far back as our memory exists. Although my journey takes me in the opposite direction which has lead to life long morbid obesity, the triggers and feelings are really the same. I can't recommend this book highly enough to anyone who has any type of issue with food and control. This book is a must read, both for sufferers & those who are in their lives.

This book was a page turner for me. I identified with so much of it. Following Rachel's story was informative and it was surprising to see how many of the same traits I possessed as a child while battling an eating disorder. Anyone who may know someone with an eating disorder should read this and learn through her personal accounts and insights. It may make the whole process a little less confusing and teach family and friends how to approach people going through this type of illness.

Not my favorite. Rachel is constantly pessimistic. The book is mostly gloom and doom and when she finally gets her happy ending she doesn't even explain or elaborate on anything. It's like she just quickly wanted to end the book.

Finally the book I have been waiting for! We live with our three equines and for years I have been asking vets, farriers and other equine professionals what certain behaviors of our equines mean and how can I better understand and work with them, and now some answers and tools to improve our lives together. Our mule just started teething and is not comfortable, but after just one week of using the methods in this book all of our lives are more relaxed and easier. I am so grateful, thank you.

By no means am I a trainer, I spent the last 2 months in a small paddock with a very timid mustang watching him and doing much of what Sharon writes about not sure if I was crazy but not really caring what the people around thought, I made progress and then I read this book, twice now, he and I do communicate, even better now that I have read this book!

I bought this to try to understand my sensitive and nervous horse better. While I had established that I was ‘the boss,’ she still was extremely unsure of herself and her fears made it difficult and often frustrating to work with her. I read through the book and felt such relief that I could now understand what she was trying to tell me, and that I could listen and respond rather than just ignoring her concerns and demanding obedience. I worked through the beginning exercises on our first day and was rewarded with a horse that was more relaxed than at any time since I’ve had her. I felt the beginnings of trust and rapport for the first time. She was also surprised and interested that I could now speak better horse. All the other horses at the barn I ‘talked to’ responded to the greeting ritual the same way, so it is definitely a universal language - fun and useful! Wish this type of information was part of learning to ride - it was all pretty new information to me. The book is clear and concise, with many useful pictures. It’s the owner’s manual horses should come with!

At first, it feels like the author anthropomorphizes horses at times but in reality she does not. Horses are described as an alien people with their own codes of conduct and body language, which in fact is what they really are. Her writing style simply aims at non-biologists. The book is full of practical advice that any person can put to test immediately after reading a few first pages.I would recommend this book to all who are interested in horses, other animals, and even humans. It teaches readers to be more observant and perceptive of other fellow beings.

This is an interesting perspective on horse/human conversations. I had never thought of trying to learn "horse speak," just wanted to teach my horses to recognize my words and actions. I feel differently now! It is also fun to watch equine interactions among themselves; they have a whole world of communication. The many pictures in the book help illustrate just what to do; it is clearly written and an excellent book all the way around.

Being able to understand body language and communicate back in that language is key in relationship building with ones animal. Numerous books have been written about body language for dog and cat owners. With Horse Speak, we finally have a guide for understanding what our horses are telling us. Photographing many different horses, Horse Speak shows various gestures and explains what they mean. It has exercises in communicating with ones horse. The book does not purport to be a training guide but rather a communication assistant. Thanks to Wilsie and Vogel’s book, we do not have to spend years deciphering what our horses are trying to tell us: we now have a communication guide.

Really enjoyed reading the interpretations of horse breath and movement as all parts of horse body language. It all reads as innately true when you've been around horses. There are many subtle cues that humans miss because we misinterpret what the horse is expressing or because humans are too busy with other human activities to have fully noticed and respond appropriately.I found the information on all the different breathes the most compelling. As I have seen horses use all of these breathes, but hadn't made the same connections to mimic them to help horses feel comfortable in situations where they might feel more claustrophobic or unsure.I really liked the breakout story about Joe and how the Horse Speak language helped his owners understand him in a better way so they could work in a more harmonious way to gain in their relationship.

this book is a game changer, it is bringing every thing I do with horses to a whole new level! it is grounded in action with step-by-step directions that are easy to read and it has tons of pictures. love it!

I bought this for my son because at the age of 40 and the slow down in building of new homes he was out of work as an architect for almost 2 years. He decided to change careers, took the course and aced it and became a Tractor Trailer Driver. As a mother, you never stop worrying about the safety of your children and even though I know he is a good driver, the BIG rig made me nervous. He appreciated it but assured me he had already learned most of what's in the book; however, his three sons enjoyed checking it out and understanding what their dad is doing for a living now and my son says he enjoys having the book to peek at and review things he learned because as we age we can all do with a refresher course once in a while.

This book has alot of very valuable information, well wroth the money and this guy knows his stuff, my 1st year driving was rough especially the 1st 6 months but after buying his books and taking the time to read it carefully it has save me in alot of tight spots and jams

Currently I am in cdl school and this book as been a boon for me. I recommend getting this book and reading it in full. Next, pull up authors videos on YouTube and follow along in book as you review videos. The book is a must have for anyone in school,potential cdl student, or veteran cdl driver. I hope he updates the book with pictures in addition to the helpful simple to understand diagrams.

I thought this book very informative and well thought out.I think Jimmy Cox has done a great job on providing the novice and experienced driver with some solid advice particularly in the backing up of trailers, which is an artform in itself.I only wish that Jimmy would include with the book a DVD of his youtube videos AND an overlaid explanation of the formulas with distance and positioning markings on these, that aid would make this the definitive book for backing in my opinion and be 5 star all the way.I'd recommend it to all the young truckers that are finding it hard to wrap their heads around 'backing', it's a great help.

After reading the book I have a better understanding on setup and angling. I can backup knowing when to turn and not over steer all the time.

I bought this book for someone else, but, curious, cracked the cover...and then read straight through. It's straight-forward, practical, no-nonsense advice and tips from a seasoned knight of the road. I would like to see this book in the cab of every truck driver.I have been around trucks in the Military for many years,never drove OTR until I went to trucking school in 2008,I was on the road for thirty five days with a trainer.I had no problem driving the truck,after the first day out,I found myself driving as team verse as a trainee,in which their was little time for me to study my course on the road.My short fall was backing.I can alley dock,but in my mind I knew that backing was more than alley docking,once I received and read Mr Jim Cox book,it filled in the blank for me.I would say that from the book,I have gain a lot of knowledge on backing from this book.I feel that once I go back on the road I will be OK.I enjoy reading chapter 7,on attitude.I hope when I go back out on road,I will see a better ATTITUDE AMONG THE TRUCKER. A comprehensive book that covers just about all supply chain operations with the Oracle ERP. This book breaks the system into bite sized topics that can either be read individually if you already have a basic understanding of the Oracle system or as an entire end to end sampling if required.I found that this book is too good to throw away even after Oracle has upgraded aspects of their systems and this is now technically obsolete. Concepts and basic instructions are still relevant, and useful even several years after first acquiring the book.Comprehensive and thorough. Recommended if you have an Oracle system in place or are contemplating implementing the Oracle Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management systems.

While Gerald & Co's book may look like a good introduction to Oracle's manufacturing & supply chain management modules, it will make little sense to those who have never used the system or don't have access to it. Because I had three years of hands-on experience with Oracle's E-Business Suite, the book is useful and I'm giving it a 3-star rating.Things that Gerald & Co. could have done better: more illustrations of what they write about. There are many "bells and whistles" in the software, but the book doesn't have enough "screen shots" to show you where they're located on an Oracle "form." I'm not satisfied with the case study, which they have placed in chapter 22. There are no screen shots there either.Gerald & Co. are assuming you can navigate and know a lot of the Oracle lingo. If you are new to this, don't expect to learn it from this book. The audiences for the book are intermediate and advanced users.One could also regard this as a reference book. Use it to answer problems you encounter while using the product or better understand what's going on. In this context, I'd rate it 3 stars, too.

It would have been better if the book had more real life examples and scenarios. Even though the book covers a lot of material, sometimes it becomes difficult to make the connection without good examples.The book seems to be a reference book rather than good learning resource. Too much details without screen shots and examples makes the reading boring sometimes.

I purchased this book as a resource to help transition from SAP to EBS when moving to a new job. I couldn't be more pleased with this book, and it was a crucial resource.The book is very readable, explaining in as plain of English as possible how each module works and interacts. The inclusion of charts and screenshots is never intrusive or gratuitous, and the content is well organized and indexed.

Just as expected

I have had the pleasure of working with Dan Natchek and his knowledge of Oracle solutions is unbeatable. Dan and the guys did a great job of transfering that knowledge from their heads to a book in a format that those of us looking to understand how all of the manufacturing and supply chain pieces work together can easily read and understand.

I thought its R12 but it 11i only. if you are looking for R12 buy the latest version not this. but book content is really Good.

This book is written good and covers almost everything offered by Oracle 11i in SCM space, I wanted to rate this book with 5 stars, but the only thing held me was the expectation of some realistic examples and some more detail in the area of Warehouse Management System, I believe that the Inventory Management should be covered separately and not coupled with WMS in the same chapter.Anyway, the fact is that it is a wonderful book which is presented very well and is worth every cent.

I passed my test, and that's all one can ask from a book like this. As for critique, there isn't much to be said. It's a more comprehensive look at the information likely to be included in the test, than other such books trying to do the same thing.

I wish I had purchased this book at the beginning of my 1st Dental Hygiene year. The book is so well written, easily readable and the information is very condensed what makes it very interesting to read. Thank you so much

I found multiple errors just from looking at a couple of pages. Especially with the teeth numbering and descriptions.

Let me start by saying I took my boards 11 years ago and only purchased this book as a resource to study for the CSCE portion of NERB, so I can obtain my licensure in another state. I do not have to take the boards again, but if I did and purchased this book for that purpose, I would be even more upset. The website listed does not have answers for the review questions to the 7th edition yet - only the 6th. The questions for the 6th obviously are different than the 7th edition. I realize this book was published about a month ago, with that said, I still feel like the online portion of the text should be up and running as soon as the book is available for purchase (that is the abridged version of this review).I LOVE Mosby's review and it was definitely my study bible when I was studying for my written boards in 2000, so figured getting an updated version would be a smart move. The CSCE is not nearly as difficult as the boards, but being I took my written over 11 years ago, just wanted to brush up on materials. I started reading over the material this morning and when I went to work on the review questions, noticed the answers were not there and could only be found online. First of all, I am all about modern day conveniences and I am online more than I should be (thanks to my iphone), but I have a toddler and trying to study for this test while home with her is impossible enough. I bought an actual book so I can take it with me to the park or the gym - I personally do not want to have to look the answers up on a website (which of course is not even just a simple [...], rather [...]). Seriously? Anyhow, I digress. When I finally have a moment to look up the answers I am shocked to find that THEY ARE STILL IN THE PROCESS OF ADDING THIS PORTION OF THE 7TH EDITION!!!!!! Trying to find answers to questions online was already considered an inconvenience for me, so you could imagine how I felt when the website states they are still working on the 7th edition study materials. So now, I paid full price for the newest edition of a book that I really did not need but felt compelled to purchase because I am a hygienist (obviously Type A) and HAD to have the most updated information so I can review for the CSCE. Of course, I could look up the answer one by one, but did I mention I have a toddler? Not happening! Should have bought a used 6th edition on Amazon for a fraction of the cost!!So, now I have to call the publisher and see how I can acquire an answer key! Great!!! Can not wait!!I am giving the book 2 stars because the content itself is very helpful. If the answers to the study questions were available, I would give the book 5 stars!!! If someone affiliated with this book can somehow help me, please do!!!

This is all I needed to prepare for the boards. I didn't read the entire book either. I took the exams and kept track of my scores. If I had a bad score I would go back and skim the chapter. Worth the money.
