As a Psychologist and Professor, I found this book to be extremely helpful in creating a treatment plan when working with my clients who self harm. The suicide risk assessment portion is amazingly useful, especially if you don’t have an organized format to follow when assessing suicidal clients! Dr. Houston has also incorporated information about working with certain types of clients in special groups, which I really appreciate. She has taken the time to address how cultural factors play a role in understanding and when attempting to prevent suicide!! Such an important piece to include!! I will definitely be recommending this book to my colleagues and students!!

This is a comprehensive book for treating some of our more difficult clients.... Plenty of assessment tools and safety plans to help guide clients toward safety

This book is a must have for your clinical library. One of the most comprehensive books on how to treat a wide range of patients. I am implementing new suicide prevention protocols in a new mental health program. I read this to further expand my knowledge and it has been very was helpful.

I think this workbook may be useful if you are still a student or lack any crisis training. I purchased in hopes of strengthening my crisis management skills. Unfortunately, I found much of this information to be very basic and repetitive. I don't think I would recommend this to many of my colleagues as it feels like a waste of money.

This is a great resource to keep in your library. It is full of different worksheets and an easy to understand book.

My19 month old son is so into this book. He likes to sit on my lap while i read it. Having him introduced to these concepts at a very young age is important to me. Mr. Rogers is just the guy to do it. His writing is so respectful to children without downplaying anything.My LO really likes seeing how moms and dads take care of their little one's at the beginning of the book (feeding them, dressing them. . .changing diapers) and really likes the end of the book where the babies are smiling at their parents and the parents are proud. Then we talk about how mom's proud of him and he beams.Such a good book, makes me want to get others in the series.Mr. Rogers is a hero of mine and i look forward to sharing his work with my son as he grows.

It's a bit outdated regarding the photos, but it is written well. In the Mr. Rodgers tone, he explains how little boys and girls grow up and start taking care of themselves and the exploration of going potty. Technical terms such as urination and bowel movements are used. Examples of floor potty chairs and toilet seats are both used. He explains it may be strange at first but then it's not so strange. My 2-year-old enjoys the pictures of the children and often points when they are sitting on the potty and says pooh (our word). Seemed to help him grasp the idea that the potty chair was for him when he saw the other children using one. Saw a huge jump in his use of the potty chair when we started reading it to him.

This is a great book for beginning and intermediate potty trainers. I loved Mr. Rogers as a kid and as a parent I still do, thanks to his tactful economy with words in this book. He says just enough to give kids the facts about potty training but not too much to gross parents out or scare kids away from toilet learning. This book a simply written, informative, and encouraging.All children love to look at other children and my daughter responds to photographs so much better than illustration. This book shows real children sitting on the toilet or on little potties with their parents supporting them by their sides, and also alone.This is great to read just before beginning potty training to help your child learn why he or she must learn to use the toilet, and also while the child is on the potty (since its a little longer than many first potty books and might help your child stay sitting). This book illustrates the use of both cloth and disposable diapers and tells kids that changing diapers is one of the ways parents show love. I am so glad that is mentioned, because a lot of kids definitely take it for granted. Kids of both sexes and of various ethnicities are shown in both panties and training pants, using all sorts of different potties, and in different situations.A great book for parents and kids. A huge hit with my family.

The language and photos are outdated but it's a super calm/adult approach to using the potty. It's actually great for my analytical daughter who likes to listen and process (not your normal 2 yr old)I change some of the language in it so she can relate when I read it. Use "poop" instead of "BM" and whatnot, but it's got the feel of a mr Rogers episode, so if you're a Mr R fan, you'll like reading this to your kids.

This is the only potty book I bought for my son. I bought it when he was about 18 months, and we started reading it as a bedtime story. I let it be his choice when he wanted to read it.At 26 months, he decided that he was ready to use the toilet, and just started telling me when he wanted to go. There were a few accidents, but not many. Each time, we just talked about how he needed to tell me when he has to go. I didn't have to "train" him or nag him.Kids love learning and growing and doing things like grown-ups. We just need to get out of their way and let them do it in a positive, supportive environment.Yes, the photos are dated, but kids don't notice things like fashion and hairstyles. They love to see photos of real kids acting as role models.

I wanted a potty book for my child that had pictures of real kids (not animals or cartoons) using the potty and this seemed like the only one I could find! You can't go wrong with Mr. Rogers, the book might be a bit too wordy for my 2yr old, but she does "read" it herself at least daily. I like how she can see other children using the potty, my only issue (as others have mentioned) is that the material is pretty outdated, but you kind of know that before purchasing just based on the cover photo. This book would have been current when I was a kid! I'm not expecting this book to potty train my kid, but I am sure that it has helped associate waste elimination with sitting on the potty.I would have given 5 stars if it was more modernized - it's still WAY more modern than the "Once Upon a Potty" book, I mean that kid is sitting on a chamber pot...

I grew up watching and always liked Mr. Rogers so that's why I figured I'd try this book out for my potty training toddler. It does a good job of showing real pictures and explaining using the potty, but it is boring and uses technical terms like "urinate". It is pretty forgettable and is not one my toddler ever seeks out on her own for me to read to her. There are definitely better and more toddler friendly potty training books out there.

My kids love this book- great photos, soft, slow and easy to understand story line. Photos are older, like being at Grandmas house but still perfectly understandable. Would love to see a version of it with updated photos. This and Fisher Price's My Very Own Potty are the best potty training books with photos and no silly cartoons with stupid noises.

When a took y gender studies class I didn't notice until a studied with a group, and sure enough mine was a fake copy. The cover was not quite as clear and colored the same was as the original and some pages had text misaligned so bad i couldn't read the paragraph. Pages were different than the original, the paper was lighter, and the upc code was not matching. I would not recommend buying this book.

Product arrived safely. The book is exactly as advertised, interesting and easy to read. The book takes an in-depth look into the lives of men and women and explains the concept of gender roles in a way that is easy to understand. I am using the book for a college course and I am happy with it so far. I would recommend this book if you are interested in learning about the meaning of gender roles and the part it plays in society. This product has completely met my expectations.

I didn't like this book. I didn't care for the author's perception on social issues. To me it was a waste of money...I don't know how it got to have so many editions. I sold my copy back to Amazon

Clear, concise explanations of statistical and econometric materials, formulas, terms, and uses. This cannot be used in lieu of an econometrics course, but it's a great companion guide. And for the price, you get a lot.

This is an extremely useful book for review or as an adjunct to a conventional, mathematically dense econometrics text. The author writes in a lucid style that makes difficult ideas easy to understand. He makes liberal use of informative graphs and tables, and he includes numerous examples to clarify the explanations. If I encountered an econometric concept or procedure that simply defied understanding, this book would be the first place I'd turn for clarification. The author is blessed with the gift of succinctness: he says a great deal of substantive importance using very few words, and the words he chooses are just the right ones to help the reader understand what's going on.

About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Cute, cute, CUTE! You cannot go wrong with Curious George. This book is a board book but reads between a board book and a paperback (meaning that there is more of a story than some board books but it isn't too wordy where as to loose the 2 year olds).

This is by far my favorite Curious George Story. Really cute and classic. I can't wait to share it with this next generation. The quality of this item was perfect. It arrived quickly and with no issue. Thanks.

We love Curious George so this was a must for my 8 month old's Easter basket. As far as board books go, it's what you would expect, but such a classic.

The Eyewitness series are great books! The feature I find to be the best is all the photos and explanations of what is available to see. They give an overview that I have found the best for each place I have visited for which I have purchase the book. We have bought books for both the USA and Europe. This one is no exception--it is informative and the pictures are great before the trip. They also make wonderful memoirs to remember what you have seen after your trip. I have kept all of them for that reason. I heartily recommend!!

Provides a great general overview of most destinations and some smaller notable cities Nothing much in detail. Would be perfect for the traveler who only has a day or two to see each city- not good for someone staying several days and needing more information.

We tried countless number of guidebooks over the years until discovering the DK series. We aren't quite at the point of not going someplace because there's no DK guide for it, but we think about it. The rich illustrations, suggested reasonable itineraries, updated directory information, and wonderful descriptive information makes this series the best. Yes, it's a little more expensive than some others, but we figure that it's chump change when compared with the value it adds to our trips.

This guide will serve you pretty well for a short trip to Istanbul. I love the color and glossiness of DK Eyewitness guides, but they are often prettier than practical. However, for a city that has a strong tourism infrastructure and a lot of historic sites, per say, their guides serve you well (Paris being another example of a useful Eyewitness Guide). The detailed and descriptive cut-aways of Hagia Sophia, Dolmabahce, the Archeology Museum, Topkapki, The Blue Mosque, etc...were a great companion guide to understand the historical significance of these sites. There is also a nice overview of the different bazaars and a section on Bosphorus cruising (including pictorial maps which helped me to identify different points on the riverside). If you are to spend more time in Istanbul and go beyond the major sites, you might want to go with one of the thicker, less glossier guides. As with all DK Eyewitness guides, the "Practicals" section is brief, but with Istanbul I didn't feel like there was a lot of special planning to do. Their restaurant sections don't tend to be particularly useful (Brief statements where everything ends up sounding the same), so if you end up picking this guide, I would do some restaurant research online apart from it. Otherwise, it holds up as a solid short trip guide, and the glossy map of the city (incl. public transport) is sort of the icing on the cake.

Disappointing: the sheer weight of this little guide is I believe unjustified. Our group took turns carrying it! We found more practical information online!

Very beautiful travel guide. I wish there was more about villages though, anyone who comes to PL should visit a small town! Nonetheless, for the content that is included, it is well written and easy to read. Amazing photographs and diagrams too. The quality was great too, clean cut pages, durable cover, and nothing was damaged during shipping. I am very content with my purchase.

Anytime we visit a major city, I like to get the Eyewitness Guide. The beautiful photos and diagrams make it easy to plan and navigate a visit, alleviate some of the pressure to photograph absolutely everything, and make great mementos once you get home. The Istanbul guide is a great example of Eyewitness guides at their best. I especially like the way sections are organized as guided walks, with maps embedded into each section. However the text in the series is always a bit minimal, so I would always purchase it along with another, more informative guide to get the historical and cultural context of what I'm looking at, as well as practical travel information. For Istanbul we bought the Rick Steve's guide as well, which we found to be excellent. Together the two books allowed us to get around easily and really appreciate what we were looking at.

I love DK books and this one is no exception. We went to France and visited the Loire Valley this Fall. I actually bought after the fact as a memento of that area. I really enjoy it!

Let's face it, Houston may not be the best hiking destination around but there are some surprisingly beautiful slices of nature tucked away in all the hustle and bustle, and this book takes you there. It's not the most comprehensive guide available - that would probably be the "60 Hikes in 60 Miles" book - but it is more portable and the selected hikes here are all winners (my personal faves are Terry Hershey/George Bush Park and Jesse Jones Park north of town).Falcon guides tend to have good maps, trailhead directions, and detailed step-by-step descriptions, and that's what you'll find here too (along with some nice color photos). My only wish is that a trail or two from Bayou Bend State Park were included - it's about a 30-45 minute drive if you live in the West or South parts of town, but it's fantastic enough to be worth the effort. Overall, though, this is a great resource for hiking Houston.
