The models are beautiful, but this is less practical as a calendar than one might expect. I know -- you are probably buying it to look at sexy ladies, not to plan your life -- but the calendar portion runs vertically along the left side of each photo, with just a letter (like "W" for Wednesday) and a number (like "7" for the 7th day of the month). No complaints; just be forewarned.

The 2018 Sports Illustrated swimsuit calendar is great! It's has 13 posters included on the inside with a medium size calendar at the bottom! Kate Upton is January's swimsuit model - all the models are beautiful & the pictures are well done!...

I buy one of these as a gift for my brother every year. This line is his favorite. The calendar is larger and doesn't waste a lot of space with the actual calendar part, as that really isn't why he likes the calendar anyway.All images are off scantily clad women, as one might expect. Again, my brother loves it

If you are a fan of Sport Illustrated models then you will certainly enjoy this calendar. I get a new one every year. If the calendar aspect is more important to you then the pretty girl you might want to get a different format, my priorities are pin ups first, calendar second.

The Calendar is wonderfully made and the models are all beautiful as usual. No complaints in regards to that.However, the description is a little bit misleading because it says that there is supposed to be a bonus poster, but mine did not include one. It was probably stolen by someone...

I would rate this higher if i could. All of the calendars i have EVER bought both in australia or the US this is the best. Its HUGE and ironically the cheapest out of every calendar i have ever bought. Even when converting to AUD with postage this was the cheapes. Plus it was a GIANT calendar?? Now that's a bargain!! Also bought the smaller 2018 sports illustrated calendar and this was still unique with different girls and outfits. AMAZING!!!!

Needed a small little calendar and this did the trick, it's small at around 7 inches and has nice pictures. The actual calendar part to write notes on is around 5" x 5" so keep that in mind as you won't be jotting down to many notes in that area.

Just got Goodness and Mercy yesterday after meeting the author Fred. I am 43 pages into this book and I have not been able to put it down. Being a resident of Oahu (Waianae) 11 years I have seen these things happen on a daily basis. I live right next to Waianae HS and every school day I see the kids walking to school smoking up before school. The kids are great and I love them all dearly. One day one of the young boys offered me a hit on a joint and I told him I used to work in the juvenile court system and he put it up. My friends from Waianae HS run from folks that graduated from their 1st class to a 72 year old football player that used to be one of the bad boys. His words not mine. Two young HS students warning this 71 year old skinny ginny (dark skinned 1/2 Italian) about the sharks out behind Makaha Surf Side where I love to snorkel, boogie board and kayak. I will probably learn to surf soon. I'm too skinny for sharks. Back to the book, get it read it, give it to your friends as a Pastor here in Waianae I sure will. Aloha Tommy

The rest of the action in the book takes place on this one single day with flashbacks to the events of the year before.Most of the investigation is focused on Holly and her three friends and a rival group of four girls. The rival group is the popular clique in the school and Holly and her friends are considered the "freaks."Recreating the world of teenage girls and their relationships, filled with insecurities, envy, raging hormones, and occasional cruelties must have been a daunting task for French. To accomplish it, she immerses us in teenspeak replete with "OMGs," "awesomesauce," "totes amazeballs," "hello?" at the end of sarcastic statements, and every sentence seems to end with a rising inflection of a question like the stereotypical Valley Girl. Considering the rich inner lives that these girls had, the use of such trite and cliched language was a bit jarring and sometimes downright irritating.Another thing that irritated me even more about the book was the supernatural aspect to it - the telekinetic powers that some of the girls supposedly had and the appearance of ghosts, none of which really seemed to have a point or to add anything to the plot. The ghosts might be explained by mass hysteria induced in suggestible young people, but still...The plot was an interesting one. It followed the pattern of French's previous books in that it started ever so slowly and built tension and suspense throughout. I also liked the characters. Conway and Moran made an intriguing team. I wonder if we'll see them again. Holly and her group were a captivating group of teenagers and their relationships with their rivals and with the boys from the neighboring school made for some riveting reading. And in the latter part of the book, we again get to observe Frank Mackey do his thing which is always diverting. But.But there was just something missing here. It wasn't really up to the high standard that French has set for herself. My initial thought was to award the book three or three-and-a-half stars, but since I don't usually do things by halves and since I am such a generous soul, I decided on four.

This is the first novel I've read by Tana French, and I loved it! Though crime fiction/thrillers aren't a genre I've read extensively in my reading career, this is one of the best ones I have read. (Dark Places by Flynn is another one of my favorites.) In previous crime fiction type novels I have read, it felt like a drag reading the interviews of suspects and waiting for them to figure it out, but I was really stumped the whole time during this novel and wanted to keep reading to find out the truth. French does this intricately by weaving a story that is difficult to put together when none of the teen girls will talk.The concept of friendship in the novel is authentic: teenage girls feel like friends are everything, and sometimes they will do anything to protect their best friends. I laughed at the dialogue between the friends and between teenagers and parents because it was so realistic and I could imagine them saying those things with the inflection that French wrote it with. The girls are sassy and brutally honest (not about everything), which made the dialogue really authentic for me.I don't know that the girls in the novel would honestly avoid talking about such a big elephant in the room like they did in the story, but there are definitely always secrets in friend groups, and I think French highlighted that appropriately and realistically. I felt for Selena's heartbreak, but again, I thought it was unlikely (as did the detectives) that her friends would do nothing to comfort her.I didn't understand some of the supernatural things in the story like the thing with the lights and Chris's ghost, but those things seemed to play out and fit in the story in the end, so I appreciated the closure.French created memorable characters across the board--detectives to teenagers. The plot kept me reading, and it was surprising to me to find out the truth when all the stories were untangled.

Because I so liked French's other books, I looked forward to this one. Imagine my surprise when about halfway through, I found myself thinking, "This is truly boring," and fighting the impulse to skip ahead to the ending just to get it over with.The story, which not only alternates between the points of view of the police and two groups of adolescent girls in the claustrophobic, mean-girl world of a boarding school but also between chronological markers, is cleverly structured. Essentially, the police investigation takes place over the course of a single day, but the section involving the girls, and the crime, arcs across many months. French is skillful in making the past collide with the present. But in the end, I found it hard to sustain an interest.Two things struck me as particularly distracting: The introduction of the paranormal--as a strategy by the murder police and as a type of power by some of the girls--didn't seem to me to move the story along. Rather, it made me think more than once, "Oh, come on!" The other distraction was the language used to describe the ways adolescent girls experience themselves and the world--another kind of mystical "we are as blooming flowers shot through with sparks of lightning" thing. While French does a good job evoking the often-chaotic interior world of young girls, she does way too much of it in this book.If The Secret Place was the first French book I'd read, I would never read another. But since I've been reading her work from the beginning, I can hope that this was an aberration, and that her next one will be better--more tightly written, more deeply drawn characters (and with every use of the word "totes" edited out!).

Please fix this damaged digital edition which is currently unreadable. The Eddings are among my favorite authors and this is a butchery of their work.

David Edding's 'Rivan Codex' is not quite the page turner that his books 'The Belgariad', 'The Mallorean'. 'Belgarath the Sorcerer' and 'Polgara the Sorceress' are, but it gives readers of those books some insight into what went into the writing of those. It has information on the fictional cultures of the Alorns and other races of the books and their counterparts in our world, and a lot of other background material that helped him and his wife in the creation of the twelve book series. It is a wonderful companion volume to the other books.

David and Leigh Eddings are two of my favorite authors. I find myself coming back again and again reading the book they right. I am still disappointed that not all of their work has been released on Kindle. I do believe I will just have to be patient. Please Hurray Up and get the older material on Kindle. I find it odd that if you live outside the United States you can purchase the books on Kindle.

Notice the third item in the title is said between coughs.Overall:Interesting to see the background. Seeing his initial story and realizing he started off only a step or two above where I'm at ( the Belgarath story was very cheesy, he also neglects to mention, when he talks about maps, that he did not have a map at that time else he wouldn't have the 'thousand leagues' stuff which he comments on ). In other words, it gave me some perspective.Pros:-Will allow you to weigh yourself as a writer against the beginning David & Leigh Eddings-Gives you some, albeit dated, perspective into the publishing process.-Gently reminds you that David Eddings was a pervert. ( Note: The 'gently' is a lie. )-Gives you perspective between Eddings' level of skill starting on the Belgariad and starting on the Mallorean.-Has good miscellaneous information for budding writers.-Gives you some information on where Eddings got some of his characters...but not much. *SIGH*Cons:-When was this written? Before or after the LotR movies? Eddings' derision of Tolkien, while sort of his right, is sort of uhm...stupid. I doubt anyone is going to make movies out of his books. Tolkien has him soundly beat.-Lots of ego. Sort of what you'd expect from a multi-millionaire old man who isn't going to lose anything.-It isn't really interesting if you're looking solely for insight into his world.-Character creation and personality creation are not covered. Polgara and Belgarath are HUGE personalities and got their own books ( retroactively, I might add, which makes them fairly useless as to seeing what made this happen. "Polgara the Sorceress" is particularly awesome though ), Garion's obvious enough ( blank slate ) but Silk is a character I wanted some "Okay, it was my uncle blargh's tendancy to sneeze every time he lied that gave Silk his nose twitch, but it was my observation of a guy selling a vacuum cleaner to my grandma that gave me his other traits. That guy grew to be a family friend and I got to know him well" from him.-Map creation/ideas are not covered thoroughly.Final judgment:It needs about 250 pages written specifically about characters in his world and their peculiarities. Geography is easy enough to figure out, but knowing what to look for in others to make characters, how to synthesize human traits into new, believable characters, that's a skill that's missing from this.You'll, because of his lack of talking about how he planned his nations ( barring "North: Vikings, South: Romans, Further south: Reptile people, et cetera ), miss out on his geographical decisions.
